Our Story

Chatty Boxx was born from the love and dedication of a family who wanted to make a difference for non-verbal children. In January 2024, we launched the Chatty Boxx Communication Club for our son, Alfie Benee, who struggled to find a suitable club to meet his needs. Alfie, who is non-verbal, was looking for a space where he could communicate, play, and feel understood. Inspired by his desire to connect, we created the club, naming it “Chatty Boxx,” a term he chose himself.

The first monthly club, hosted at Alfie’s therapy centre, was a hit, and Alfie loved it. He continued to ask for it using his AAC device, which made it clear that this was something special. Tragically, Alfie passed away unexpectedly in March 2024, but we knew we had to continue the legacy he started. Today, Chatty Boxx helps other families and children with complex communication needs, providing therapy, support, and a community where children can feel seen and heard.

Our mission is to give non-verbal children the opportunity to communicate, express themselves, and engage with others in a way that suits them. Through one-on-one therapy, AAC device support, and monthly clubs, we work to ensure that every child has the tools and support they need to thrive.

Adam

Founder of Chatty Boxx

Adam, Alfie's dad, founded Chatty Boxx in January 2024, inspired by his son Alfie Benee, who struggled to find a suitable space to meet his communication needs. After Alfie’s passing in March 2024, Adam continued the legacy by expanding Chatty Boxx to help other families and children with complex communication needs. His mission is to provide non-verbal children with the tools and support they need to communicate, express themselves, and thrive.

Sophie

Co-founder of Chatty Boxx

Sophie, Alfie’s step-mum, continues the Chatty Boxx Communication Club in honour of Alfie’s memory, ensuring the joy he shared in life is carried forward. As a parent to a non-verbal child with complex needs, Sophie has gained invaluable experience in creating spaces that are not only supportive but also inclusive. Her work with Chatty Boxx is a testament to the family's commitment to helping other children and families facing similar challenges.

Emily

Speech and Language Therapist

Emily is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who graduated from De Montfort University in 2021. Before joining Chatty Boxx full-time, Emily worked in the NHS, gaining invaluable experience with children who have complex communication needs. She is passionate about helping children express themselves and is committed to providing therapy that meets each child’s individual needs. Emily’s expertise in both private and public sectors makes her an essential member of our team.

Grace

Carer and Therapy Assistant

Grace has worked with children with complex needs since she was 17 years old. Her deep understanding of children’s emotional and physical needs has made her a dedicated carer and assistant. Grace’s commitment to finding innovative ways to support children shines through in every interaction she has. She works closely with Emily to ensure that therapy sessions are effective, engaging, and child-centred.

Esther

Speech and Language Therapist

Esther trained as a Speech and Language Therapist at the University of Essex and qualified in 2017. Esther’s core values are connection, curiosity, and learning through play. With several years of experience, her journey so far has taken her through various roles in the NHS and independent schools, making her a core member of Chatty Boxx. She is passionate about helping children communicate and thrive in a supportive, engaging environment.
